PLANETARY DETAILS:

Arcadia was one of the earliest member planets in the Federated Suns, joining in the second wave of new membership. Populated by mostly Scandinavian settlers, the planet's most famous citizen was Marge Svensdottar, wife of Federated Suns President Paul Davion. Arcadia was a "garden world", with bountiful water, extensive agriculture, abundant raw materials, and booming industry. That it lost out to New Avalon, a strife-ridden world at the time, for the choice of capitol of the Federated Suns, was a surprise, and laid the seeds for resentment that showed itself during the conspiracies against Edward Davion, but never had a chance to fully ripen.

Then came the 1st Succession War, and Arcadia was taken from the universe. Like many other rich worlds in the realm and outside, it was quickly targeted by the enemies of House Davion, and without the defensive capabilities of a garrison like the capitol world's, Arcadia succumbed to non-conventional weapons, with those who could fleeing the system. Quarantined, and then removed from current starmaps, the system was forgotten...or so everyone thought.

Socio-Industrial Levels:

Technological Development

High-tech world with advanced research centers and universities; best medical care available; cutting-edge microelectronics industry.

Industrialization Level

Heavily industrialized world capable of manufacturing any and all complex output.

Raw Material Dependence

World/system produces all the raw materials needed and commonly exports large quantities of surplus.

Industrial Output

World has a wide industrial base that produces many different types of products and exports most of its output.

Agricultural Dependence

World has a rich environment producing a great excess of food in relation to population needs, with planet's agricultural regions augmented by agricultural technologies; exports some portion of its resources.

EMPLOYER SITUATION REPORT:

Several months ago, after piecing together information gathered from the Word's defeats on Tsamma, Palmyra, and elsewhere, MIIO and AFFS intelligence analysts stumbled upon what we suspect is the key to the Blakists' seeming ability to move within the heart of the Federated Suns' realm with impugnity. Arcadia.

Using ancient jumpship route maps provided by the AFFS, the Periphery Star Guard mercenary unit was dispatched to reconnoiter the planet. They were to gather what information they could over the course of two months, then transmit that information to a waiting invasion fleet. Given the Star Adder attacks in the Outback, that the Federated Suns was willing to commit a large body of troops for this venture is proof enough of its importance.

After entering the system at rotating pirate point on the sun-side of one of Arcadia's two moons, we know the Star Guard made planetfall. Three weeks later, a single garbled transmission made it back to their jumpship, reporting heavy combat with a well-equipped garrison, and requesting extraction. Their ship jumped out, bringing the message. Unfortunately, the details required to commit the invasion fleet could not be recovered from the communication. We need someone else to go in and get out with that information, preferably along with the Guard. The defenders will most certainly be on the alert, so we are requesting a battalion to make sure the firepower delivered is sufficient.
