History
Blair was born on the world of Numenor, a world home to one of the Federated Suns' best life sciences programs at the Numenor University, and precious little else. Being within one jump from New Avalon, and being spinward of the capital world, saw very little military action. The AFFS military presence was little more than a token defense force. Blair's parents were both on staff at the university, and Blair was expected to attend the university and go on to join the staff as well - he was certianly bright enough. But as time went on he joined his secondary school's junior Reserve Officer Training Corps group, and then joined the full-fledged group at the university. He took a lot of courses that told the world that he was planning on joining the military. Soon after he graduated, though, his parents stopped him from joining the AFFS full-time; how, exactly, Blair never really found out, but they did. This led to an explosive argument that led to Blair avoiding his parents for a week, then catching a ride out to Outreach and submitting applications to various mercenary commands in the hope of plying his chosen trade.
Personality
Normally, out of the cockpit, Blair is a fairly easygoing person who, more often than not, has his nose in a book, technical manual, journal, or magazine. He is constantly reading, and knowning all he can about the War of 3039 has recently become something of a hobby for him. In the cockpit, he becomes almost a completely different person. He stops joking and becomes focused on one thing - the destruction of the enemy. While he's technically competent as a pilot, he's not the best, but his gunnery scores more than make up for this.
